Reporter apologises after bizarre interview with club captain

Apology
Frankfurt, August 24, 2025 (dpa/CrestNewsOnline) Werder Bremen captain Marco Friedl was involved in a bizarre situation during the post-match interview after their 4-1 defeat in the German Bundesliga to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Friedl showed up for the interview wearing an Eintracht Frankfurt jersey he had swapped with Michael Zetterer.
Thinking he was a Frankfurt player, Sky TV presenter Katharina Kleinfeldt then asked him about the win.
Friedl replied with a smug smile: “I’m a Werder Bremen player.”
Kleinfeldt immediately apologised after realising her mistake.
Speaking later, the reporter said: “The situation was very uncomfortable for me and upsets me. I hope that Marco will be able to laugh about it in a few days’ time.
“Before the game, I interviewed Marco Friedl on the team bus. Unfortunately, the Frankfurt jersey confused me for a moment after the final whistle, which led to this unfortunate mix-up.”
Friedl seemed a bit annoyed after the mishap, and said he “never experienced anything like it.”
“I had a chat with the woman 90 minutes before the game because it was urgently needed or extremely important to have the media present before the game and in the dressing room,” he said.
Kleinfeldt tried to carry on with the interview after the mishap, but Friedl was no longer in the mood for it.
The situation was “rather strange” and “a bit ridiculous,” the Austrian said.
