Abeokuta, August 27, 2025 (CrestNewsOnline) Godwin Otunla, the Area Comptroller of Ogun Area 1 Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has urged communities along the state’s border with Republic of Benin to provide credible intelligence and information for a successful fight against smuggling activities in the area.
Otunla, while speaking with journalists in Idiroko, said this had become necessary in view of the fact that fighting against smuggling remains a collective responsibility.
“The Ogun 1 Area  Command will continue to build on collaboration, intelligence-sharing and innovation against smugglers,” he said.
Otunla however warned smugglers and their collaborators to refrain from illegal businesses because the Command would not relent in the fight against smuggling.
“We remain vigilant, resolute and unyielding. No matter the sophistication of their tricks, our personnel will continue to thwart smugglers’ antics, and we shall bring the full weight of the law against them,” he said.
