Tinubu names IBB’s son BOA Chairman, as 8 others get federal appointments

Ibadan, July 18, 2025 (CrestNewsOnline) President Bola Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, son of former military President Ibrahim Babangida, as Chairman of the revamped Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Friday, saying the appointment came along with eight others.
The appointments have some of the appointees as Chairmen or Directors-General of federal agencies.
Fifty-three-year-old Muhammad Babangida, according to Onanuga, is an alumnus of the European University in Montreux, Switzerland.
There, he earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and a Masters degree in Public Relations and Business Communication.
He later attended the Harvard Business School’s Executive Programme on Corporate Governance in 2002.
Others appointed by President Tinubu include Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State as Chairman, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA).
Also, Jamilu Wada Aliyu was appointed Chairman, National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), while Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa is the new Chairman of Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON).
Both are from Kano State, and are joined by Sanusi Musa who is also from the state as Chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR).
Equally, Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu from Sokoto State is the new Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA).
Also, Sanusi Garba Rikiji from Zamfara State is the new Director-General of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN).
Mrs Tomi Somefun from Oyo State is the new Managing Director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC).
Dr Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria from Kaduna State has also been appointed Executive Director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC).
